A dominant domestic performer for New South Wales and the Sydney Sixers, the Bankstown-born all-rounder has risen to become one of the world's best and most exciting cricketers.
Ash was a member of the 2020 T20 World Cup-winning side that defeated India in front of a record crowd of 86,174 at the MCG, having earlier become the first Indigenous Australian woman to play in a Cricket World Cup for Australia.
In 2022, she was recognised for her outstanding achievements by Cricket Australia, being named the Belinda Clark Medallist before she and her teammates went undefeated to win the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. Later that year, Ash and her team also secured gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
In 2024, Ash received her second Belinda Clark Medal, further solidifying herself as one of the game's greats after a dominant year across all three formats. The following year, in 2025, she was honored as the Women's ODI Player of the Year at the Australian Cricket Awards, recognising her exceptional performance in the 50-over format.
A proud Muruwari woman, Ash continues to inspire the next generation and launched the Ashleigh Gardner Foundation, aiming to make a difference in the lives of young Aboriginal children across the country. In November 2024, a new partnership was announced between her foundation and Cricket Australia, set to increase support for Indigenous kids in rural communities.
An accomplished public speaker, she is one of Nike Australia's most prominent female ambassador athletes. In 2023, Ash expanded her professional career by joining the Gujarat Giants in the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL).
