BRODIE SMITH

Brodie Smith joined the Adelaide Crows after being taken with pick 14 in the 2010 National Draft.

After making a fantastic impression early at the Crows, Brodie was selected to play in Round 1 of the 2011 season, finishing up with 15 games for the season.

In his second year, Smith played all 22 games, including three finals, in a season where he utilised his clean disposal and speed and turned into a running defender.

In 2013, Smith was considered one of the AFL’s most damaging half backs and began to be known for his impressive skills, long kicks, rebound 50’s and metres gained. It wasn’t long before the accolades came about and in 2014 he had a standout year, and was selected in the All-Australian team for the first time.

Sadly, in a year where the Crows would make the Grand Final, Smith suffered an ACL injury in the Qualifying Final which kept him out of the game for 11 months.

During his time away from the game, Brodie became invested in junior programs – taking on the role as State Under-18 defensive coach. He made it back to the senior side to play two games at the back end of 2018, where in one game he picked up 29 disposals including six rebound 50’s and 599 metres gained.

In 2019, after a year off – Smith amazingly played all 22 games and hit the 150 game milestone.

In what was a challenging year for the club in 2020, Smith proved to be a shining light in the team having a fantastic season which saw him finish sixth in the club’s Best & Fairest – displaying his skills yet again which ended with him being above average in disposals, kicks and tackles as well as elite in metres gained.

In 2021, Brodie became just the 20th player in club history to play 200 AFL games for the Crows.
