The Brief
Arada, a prominent property developer based in Dubai, sought to position their Aljada development in Sharjah as a central hub for skateboarding in the Middle East. Their vision included creating state-of-the-art skateboarding facilities and fostering a vibrant community around the sport. To achieve this, they aimed to collaborate with a globally recognised figure in skateboarding who could bring expertise, credibility, and inspiration to the project.
Solution
Arada approached W Sports & Media to identify a suitable ambassador for their skateboarding initiative. Recognising the need for a partner who embodies excellence and has a passion for developing the sport, Keegan Palmer, who at the time was the newly crowned gold medallist in skateboarding – Park from the Tokyo Olympics, was the perfect candidate.
In 2022, Keegan entered a partnership with Arada, before becoming the official ambassador for Aljada Skate Park in 2023, the largest and most innovative skate park in the region. His role extended beyond mere representation; he actively contributed to the design of the skate park's third phase, ensuring it met international standards and catered to both beginners and professional skaters.
Keegan's involvement also included hosting masterclasses, mentoring sessions, and competitions at Aljada Skate Park. His presence and hands-on approach provided local youth with unparalleled opportunities to learn from a world-class athlete, thereby nurturing the next generation of skateboarders in the UAE.
Outcome
The partnership between Keegan Palmer and Arada has significantly elevated the profile of skateboarding in the UAE. Aljada Skate Park has become a central hub for the skateboarding community, attracting enthusiasts from across the world. The facilities have hosted major events, including the Street and Park World Championships, further establishing the UAE as a key player in the global skateboarding scene.
Keegan's engagement has inspired countless young athletes, fostering a growing interest in skateboarding. His mentorship has been instrumental in developing local talent, with many young skaters showing remarkable progress under his guidance.
