Maya Joint
Maya Joint is a 19-year-old professional tennis player, born and raised in Detroit, United States, who represents Australia on the professional tennis tour.
Maya is one of just two teenagers in the top 100 of the WTA singles rankings. She is one of the highest-rated rising stars on the tennis tour and continues to take the tennis world by storm every time she steps out on the court. Maya broke onto the scene in the 2024 Australian summer of tennis, when at just 17-years-old, she reached the last round of women’s singles qualifying at the Australian Open, where she was defeated by eventual semi-finalist Dayana Yastremska.
Following the Australian Open, Maya continued her fantastic form by claiming her maiden pro tour title at the ITF Burnie International in Tasmania and then won her second pro title just a few weeks later in the Dominican Republic.
After a brilliant start to the 2024 season, Maya’s meteoric rise up the ranks saw her break into the top 200 in the WTA Singles Rankings by May.
Maya then qualified for her maiden Grand Slam singles main draw at the US Open in August, where she went on to claim her maiden Grand Slam main draw win, doing so in straight-sets.
Kicking off her 2025 season at the Brisbane International, Maya claimed her first WTA Tour level singles main draw win in the first round, before reaching the semifinals of the Hobart International just a week later. Maya made her Australian Open singles main draw debut, coming up against no. 7 seed Jessica Pegula in the first round.
Following the Australian summer, Maya continued her fantastic form, qualifying for the Indian Wells main draw and breaking into the top 100 in the WTA singles rankings. She was then called up to represent Australia in the Billie Jean King Cup - becoming the 58th Australian woman to wear the Green and Gold. In May, May won her maiden WTA Tour singles and doubles titles in the same week at the Morrocan Open, rising to a career-high ranking of 53 in the WTA singles rankings.
Off the tennis court, Maya enjoys reading, drawing, listening to music, playing card games and watching Netflix.
